Planning

Planning

There are several factors Communities Against Substance Abuse activates for planning prevention strategies. A communal definition of a substance abuse problem is imperative to the development of effective solutions.

Communities Against Substance Abuse work with groups to identify:

  • A description of the setting of the substance abuse problem
  • Who to involve in the planning process
  • Community resources

In order to develop solutions, we must identifying desired outcomes through:

  • Identifying community-wide conditions that we want to create
  • Identifying strategies that will result in those improved conditions
  • Developing short, medium, and long-term measures of progress

Outcomes will not be achieved unless community participation is initiated to:

  • Continue with the effort over time
  • Actively participate in implementation of the solution
  • Co-design evaluation measures
  • Co-design accountability mechanisms
