Ecstasy Use Skyrocketing
Results of New Teen Study Revealed;
National Education Campaign Launched


What:

The Partnership for a Drug-Free America announces results of its latest teen attitude study on Ecstasy; launches national multi-media education campaign on Ecstasy. Also public health officials, community representatives and youth join efforts to combat Club Drugs. Highlight the dangers associated with these so-called “Love” and “Fun” drugs. Announce five strategies to deal with this growing problem.

Why:
Ecstasy use is skyrocketing, quickly becoming the nation’s and San Diego County’s newest high.
Emergency cases related to Ecstasy use have increased dramatically.
People think this so-called “Fun” or “Love ” drug is harmless.
Ecstasy produces a range of harmful effects, including death.
Last year, 3 people in San Diego County had Ecstasy in their system when they died.
