East County Alcohol Retailers Support Responsible Sales
Over 50 Businesses Participate in Responsible Beverage Service Training


What:
East County alcohol business owners and their employees participate in Responsible Beverage Service training.
Participants will learn how to:
Detect fake ID's;
Identify intoxicated customers;
Establish policies to make sure alcohol is sold responsibly;
Set up alternative transportation or designated driver programs;
Reduce alcohol-related problems to businesses and community;
Sexual assault prevention training.

Why:
Responsible Beverages Service (RBS) training helps reduce underage drinking and youth access to alcohol
RBS training decreases the sale of alcohol to intoxicated persons.
Alcohol licensees are committed to being responsible to their community and their own establishments.
Employee training and policy enforcement could lead to 50% reduction in alcohol-related problems for businesses and the community.
Alcohol abuse can lead to domestic violence, sexually transmitted diseases and alcohol-related deaths and injuries.

This RBS training is sponsored by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, the San Diego County Responsible Hospitality Coalition, and the East County Hospitality Resource Panel (HRP). The East County HRP, one of several hospitality resource panels in the county, is a community-based collaborative of regulatory and law enforcement agencies, retail alcohol industry representatives and community health groups that provides assistance to support the responsible service of alcoholic beverages.
