| May 2000 HS Students and Community Simulate Fatal DUI Crash Grim Reaper to Star in two-day Pre-Prom Drama What: Every 15 Minutes, a dramatic program designed to prevent teenage drinking and driving, starts with a shocking, reality-based staging of a fatal DUI crash involving Granite Hills High School students and wraps up the next day with a high-energy, anti-drinking and driving, motivational assembly. Granite Hills' Every 15 Minutes is strategically planned to occur right before the weekend promtraditionally one of the most deadly nights for students, according to California Highway Patrol statistics. The program was named in the early 90's. At that time, someone in the U.S. died in an alcohol-related traffic collision every 15 minutes. Currently, the highway fatality rate is one death every half an hour.
