Score a Winning Touchdown!

Run with these Super Bowl party tips:
Ball ready for play–offer guests a safe and comfortable party environment and a variety of alternative, nonalcoholic beverages and high protein snacks like cheese and meat, which slow the absorption of alcohol. Avoid salty snacks, which tend to promote thirst and may cause guests to drink more alcohol.
False start–illegal position or procedure–starting the party ill-prepared to care for the needs of your guests–not having plenty of food and alternative beverages on hand.
Clock starts–your Super Bowl bash has begun. The responsible and caring host offers guests plenty of food and nonalcoholic beverages and monitors guests intake of alcohol.
Roughing the kicker–When guests collide in a frantic attempt to reach the meager and inadequate supply of food and alternative beverages.
Illegal participation–when a bartender or host serves a minor or someone obviously intoxicated.
Illegal forward pass–unwanted sexual advances, which can occur as a result of intoxication and reduced inhibitions.
Time out–from drinking alcohol. Hosts should offer coffee, and dessert.
Delay of game–delay guests from driving if they've had too much to drink.
Safety–make sure your guests arrive home safely. Stop serving alcohol at least one hour before the game ends. Plan post-game activities that do not involve drinking. Do not allow an intoxicated guest to drive.
Touchdown or field goal–your Super Bowl party is safe, fun and a success.

The East County Hospitality Resource Panel (HRP) is urging people throughout San Diego County to celebrate responsibly on Super Bowl Sunday, one of the biggest alcohol drinking days of the year. Don't fumble the ball! Alcohol abuse can lead to domestic violence, sexually transmitted diseases and alcohol-related traffic deaths and injuries.
