| 20 December 1999 Dedicated Volunteers & Staff Recognized for Service During this Season of Giving Honorees Exemplify Year-Round Spirit of Christmas What: Holiday ceremony and festivities to recognize and thank these special people for the spirit of giving that they demonstrate all year round. Who: Caring individuals from throughout San Diego County who generously give of their time throughout the year to help light the way and provide strength to those challenged by recovery from their drug and alcohol addictions. Why: People who are in substance abuse treatment programs need support from others in order to not feel so alone in their battles against their personal demons of drugs and alcohol. A loving smile, kind word and listening ear can make all the difference in whether someone in recovery can turn their life around, or fall deeper into the depths of despair. When: Wednesday, December 22, 1999, 1 PM Where: McAlister Institute (Bingo Hall) 1365 North Johnson El Cajon, CA 92020 (Johnson Exit from I-8, North on Johnson, McAlister is on the right) Notes: Volunteers will be available for interviews beforehand or afterwards to tell their personal stories of how they are impacting others’ lives. Recovering substance abusers will be available for interviews also. Visuals & Sounds: Individuals receiving plaques for their service, photographs of people helping people, holiday decorations, music and merriment.
